Rob Lowe is 'humiliated' by Pledge of Allegiance 'idiocy' at Calif. college (VIDEO)

Actor Rob Lowe defended the Pledge of Allegiance on Wednesday morning.

A California college board had made national headlines after banning the pledge.

Actor Rob Lowe says he is "humiliated" after a California college's board of trustees made national headlines for banning the Pledge of Allegiance during its meetings.

As Campus Reform  first reported, the president of Santa Barbara City College Board of Trustees Rob Miller "decided to discontinue use of the Pledge of Allegiance for reasons related to its history and symbolism." Miller added that the pledge is "steeped in expressions of nativism and white nationalism." Miller temporarily reversed his decision on Tuesday, as Campus Reform  also reported

"Humiliated for Santa Barbara City College making national news for their idiocy," Lowe tweeted Wednesday morning.

Following Campus Reform's reporting, several other news outlets, including Fox News, picked up the story. Celeste Barber, the former SBCC adjunct professor who challenged the initial decision to scrap the pledge, joined Fox and Friends Wednesday morning to discuss the story.

Lowe's tweet came just minutes after Barber's appearance on Fox & Friends.
