STUDY: Most Catholic educated members of Congress vote pro-abortion
Most members of Congress who attended Catholic universities vote in favor of pro-choice legislation, a new study reveals.
The report, published by the Cardinal Newman Society, reveals that 52 of the 92 officials who attended a Catholic institution of higher learning, or 56 percent in the last and current Congress, have voted consistently in favor of pro-choice rights and/or funding.
The Catholic Church officially opposes all forms of abortion. The official Vatican website states “human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.”
In the upper chamber, 11 of 15 senators who earned degrees from a Catholic school have voted to expand abortion rights, the report adds.
Nearly every House and Senate member listed in the study as supporting abortion rights has a zero percent rating from the National Right to Life Committee, said the Cardinal Newman Society.
