VIDEO: Students angered by 'sexist' Obamacare advertising

Several students at the University of Colorado this weekend decried the recent “Thanks Obamacare” and "got insurance?" advertising campaign calling it "sexist" and degrading to women.

The campaign, created by the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative and ProgressNow Colorado, aims to promote Obamacare by using the image of a young woman who wants to use Obamacare to take care of her birth control so she can have a sex with a man also pictured in the ad.

“OMG, he’s hot!" it reads. "Let’s hope he’s as easy to get as this birth control. My health insurance covers the pill, which means all I have to worry about is getting him between the covers. I got insurance.”

Watch students call Obamacare ads 'degrading'

When asked about how the liberal campaign portrayed women, students overwhelmingly disapproved.

“I don’t approve of this” said one student “Terribly” said another.

Juxtaposing the “Thanks Obamacare” ads with an advertisement from the 1930’s featuring a female homemaker, students claimed the “got insurance?” campaign was more derogatory.

“I’m a little shocked” one girl said, “definitely degrading.”

Colorado’s Division of Insurance has reported that over 250,000 people here received cancellation notices on their insurance policies.

The ads, which can be found by visiting DoYouGotInsurance.com, will circulate in print and online in Colorado.
