Ahead of Tuesday's election, businesses across the country began boarding up in anticipation of rioting and looting.

Do students believe rioting and looting in response to election results is justified?

Ahead of Tuesday’s historic presidential election between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, Campus Reform asked students on the campus of the University of California-Irvine whether rioting and looting in response to the election outcome are justified. 

Across the country, businesses have boarded up in anticipation of violent demonstrations, particularly if Trump wins re-election. 

”I think that some people should,” one student answered when asked by Campus Reform whether rioting would be justified. 

”It’s always in your right to protest. Obviously, it would be better for it to be peaceful,” another said. 

Yet another student said the justification for rioting would be dependent on “what their political affiliation is and whether they think his winning or his losing or whatever was fair.”
