Michigan State University student gov. set to spend $60k on 40 bikes for students
The student government at Michigan State University (MSU) plans to spend $60,000 to bring 40 rental bicycles to campus as part of a “bikeshare" program.
Matt Bedard of a student publication, The MSU Review, writes that part of that price will go towards a fee the student government must pay the university to rent the land on which the bicycles will be stored.
“So, essentially, one recipient of your tuition will be paying another recipient of your tuition with your tuition,” writes Bedard, in The MSU Review story
The program, which will cost $52,800 before advertising or $1,320 per bike according to the State News, is currently seeking approval from Residence Education and Housing Services.
