EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Students mark Constitution Day by calling for Second Amendment changes
Almost all interviewees called for changes in the right to bear arms.
Only two students addressed free speech, one claiming it needs change and another telling Campus Reform of its importance on college campuses.
In light of the September Constitution Day holiday, Campus Reform asked students at Michigan State University about their opinion on the Constitution.
With Constitution Day earlier this week, Campus Reform asked students at Michigan State University for their opinions on the Constitution’s relevance today and to indicate any changes they would like to see in the First and Second Amendments.
The relevance of the Constitution received a mixed response, but almost all interviewees called for changes in the right to bear arms. Many cited the changing times and amount of malicious violence, with one saying “everything is just so much more advanced than it was hundreds of years ago.”
“They need to take a look in[to] gun control a lot because obviously it’s not the same as back then with all the fully-auto and semi-auto weapons now,” one MSU student said.
Another student claimed, “statistically speaking, the United States has the highest record for shootings, like mass shootings...that just proves that there needs to be something changed about the right to bear arms.”

Another student claimed, “maybe with like the gun laws...as far as like age limit...and doing better like background checks,” is a potential change.
Only one student didn’t propose changes to the Second Amendment.
“I think what applied back then applies right now...[I] own numerous guns myself and hold them up as long as you can,” he said.
