Feds investigating claims of anti-Semitism in UC Berkeley admin

Federal officials have launched an investigation into whether or not officials at UC Berkeley created a hostile environment for Jewish students by encouraging anti-Israel demonstrations, university administrators confirmed to Campus Reform late last week.

The allegations, currently being explored by the U.S. Department of Education, claim administrators helped fuel anti-Semitic hate speech by failing to to curb rowdy anti-Israel demonstrations being held on campus.

The federal investigation was brought about by two recent Berkeley graduates who filed filed complaints alleging the anti-Semitism.

The university’s action lead to the “echo of incitement, intimidation, harassment and violence carried out under the Nazi regime and those of its allies in Europe against Jewish students and scholars ... during the turbulent years leading up to and including the Holocaust,” the complaint reads.

A university spokesperson did not return calls from Campus Reform for further comment.

The announcement of an investigation comes on the heels of the University of California Student Association passing a resolution accusing the nation of Israel of “racism” in a secretive vote.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Education was not available for comment at the time of publication.
