Idaho becomes seventh state to allow concealed carry on campuses

Idaho has become the seventh state to pass legislation allowing concealed guns on college and university campuses in order to ensure the “safety of students, faculty and staff.”
Republican Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter (R) signed a bill allowing licensed students, staff and visitors to concealed carry beginning July 1, according to the Associated Press.
Students for Concealed Carry, a national nonpartisan group, has released a statement supporting the law.
“We hope that the shared experience of its sister states will show Texas and the rest of the nation that these types of laws are successful and do not impact the academic mission of universities,” said spokesman Kurt Mueller.
The law does not allow concealed carry in student dormitories, residence halls and “public entertainment facilities.”
