Oregon prof tweets obscenities at conservative leaders
Targets of Fowler's tweets include: Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Donald Trump and Bibi Netanyahu.
Prof. David Fowler has a history of tweeting explicit and profane language at conservative lawmakers, commentators and public figures.
University of Oregon professor David Fowler has consistently tweeted a barrage of explicit and profane language at conservative lawmakers, commentators and public figures.
Professor Fowler has tweeted the phrase “fuck you” at five different Republican presidential candidates: Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and businessman Donald Trump. Additionally, Fowler has tweeted at no fewer than seven Republican congressmen to individually call each one of them an “ asshole.”
Fowler, who the university website lists as an Associate Professor and Senior Librarian, has consistently targeted Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) with his explicit language. In addition to calling Cruz an “ asshole,” Fowler has called the Texas Senator a “lying doucheag” [sic], a “ public health menace,” and told him to “ eat shit.”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has also been one of Fowler’s favorite targets. On July 26th, Fowler, who identifies himself as a “professor at UO” on his Twitter profile, tweeted at Senator McConnell to call him a “ fucked up human being.”
Just a month before that, Fowler tweeted at McConnell to call him “full of shit,” an insult Fowler has also directed at former Bush Press Secretary Dana Perino, Scott Walker, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), Fox News commentator Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH), and Rep. Steve King (R-IA), among others.
Professor Fowler’s vocabulary includes more than fecal references: he has used the word “pussy” to describe both Senator Marco Rubio and political commentator Sean Hannity. In June of 2014, Fowler argued that America should hand Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), former Alaska governor Sarah Palin ,and Boehner over to the Taliban.
Fowler, however, has not limited his profane outbursts to attacks on American politicians. In February 2015, Fowler tweeted at Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to call him an “asshole.” In August 2015, Fowler called Breitbart Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro an “ asshole.” Fowler called Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera the same thing in May 2015.
Professor Fowler has also: accused Megyn Kelly of being a “ thinly veiled racist,” called filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza “ a massively offensive piece of shit,” labeled Hollywood actor James Woods an “asshole,” called NRA CEO Wayne Lapierre “ full of shit,” and tweeted “ [f]uck you” to Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera.
Fowler has taken issue with employees at other universities making political statements on at least one occasion. In November 2014, Fowler tweeted at Duke University to suggest that head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski had broken university policy by criticizing President Obama’s military strategy.
Townhall reported last week that Professor Fowler called Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) a “misogynist liar” for her efforts to defund Planned Parenthood.
Fowler did not respond to Campus Reform’s request for comment.
