School administrator: 'Insensitive costumes' are 'as offensive as the N-word'
Examples of offensive costumes include 'a Mexican' and 'promiscuous nurse'
School may punish students for wearing politically incorrect outfits
A school administrator has warned students at Quinnipiac University that "insensitive costumes" such as "a Mexican, hooker, gangster, or promiscuous nurse" are "as offensive as writing the 'N-word' on a blackboard."
“Costumes that exaggerate, stereotype, generalize a particular ethnic culture [or] gender, [are] insensitive,” said the Connecticut school's Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer Diane Ariza, according to The Quinnipiac Chronicle, the school's official newspaper.

“It is as offensive as writing the ‘N-word’ on a blackboard or a chalkboard or a whiteboard in the dorms or in the residence halls,” she said.
Ariza said "insensitive" costumes included wearing “blackface, or as a Mexican, hooker, gangster or promiscuous nurse."
Monique Drucker, associate vice president of student affairs, said the school would consider formally punishing students who wore politically incorrect outfits.
"If they are not in compliance with us or if they challenge the conversation in a way that would be inappropriate, then we would be thinking about bringing them through student conduct," she said.
