University to hold 'Laundry 101' seminar during orientation
Laundry 101 is a special activity during the University of New Haven's Welcome Week.
Advice includes not mixing whites and colors, when to use bleach, and not overloading the washing machine.

The University of New Haven (UNH) is helping freshmen clean up their acts—and socks—with a special session during orientation.

UNH’s Welcome Week kicks off next week with a one-hour “refresher” course on the ins and outs of laundry. Greg Overend, director of student activities at UNH, told Campus Reform that students will learn basic tips such as: “don’t mix whites and colors and when to use bleach and to not overload the washing machines.”
“Laundry 101” as the session is listed on the Welcome Week schedule, is held in all of the first-year residence halls for freshmen. Overend said these powwows aren’t held in the upperclassman dorms, but older students, RAs and orientation leaders, do help out with acquainting freshmen to the washing and drying machines.
Overend said Laundry 101 has been a part of orientation week for approximately 8 years.
Laundry 101 will be offered Monday, August 25, which is also the first day of classes.
UNH is a private institution in Connecticut with approximately 6,500 students enrolled.
