University of Tennessee Sex Week promotes itself with Sarah McLachlan's 'Angel'
This probably wasn't what Sarah McLachlan had in mind when she wrote her hit song.
According to the Daily Beacon, the University of Tennessee's Sex Week has released a promotional video featuring McLachlan’s “Angel,” a song that has appeared on many public service announcements from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals alongside the sad faces of dogs and cats in homeless shelters.
The video featured sad faces of UT students, with captions of advice they have received about sex education.
“They told me I couldn’t do it in the butt, that it was ungodly,” the first slide says.
“If you give head, you’ll get cavities,” the second reads.
“I went to an all girls school and we never saw diagrams of vaginas, only penises,” says a third.
Other slides in the video complain that “[t]hey told us porn would ruin sex for us,” “I was forced to look at pictures of infected genitalia. Like inflamed vulvas,” “we didn’t learn about LGBTQ+ people,” and “[t]hey compared non-virgins to unwrapped pieces of chocolate no one wants.”
“Every day millions of American students suffer from inadequate sex education.” Nickie Hackenbrack, senior and Sex Week co-founder said at the end of the video. “Sex Week is here to help.”
Sex Week is scheduled to kick off on April 6, 2015.
