VIDEO: Students struggle to identify Ronald Reagan
Students at the University of Maryland could not identify a photograph of Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. President.
Reporter Dan Joseph captured the students’ wildly inaccurate answers on camera in his latest video for MRCTV.
At this rate, they will never win one for the Gipper.
Despite paying up to $44,645 annually for their college education, students at the University of Maryland were unable to identify a portrait of one of the most recognizable U.S. presidents.
In his latest video for the Media Research Center, reporter Dan Joseph travelled to UMD’s suburban campus just outside Washington, D.C. with a picture of Ronald Reagan to gauge students’ awareness of the 40th President of the United States.
“Um, is that Bush—the first Bush?” one student asked Joseph.
Despite offering clues describing the photographed man as “an actor” and “leader of the free world,” students continued to stare blankly or misidentify the iconic president.
“That’s Ronald Reagan? Oh, okay. Wow,” said another student.
When asked what he thought about his peers’ inability to identify Reagan, one student told Joseph “that’s pretty surprising considering that’s a United States president.”
