VIDEO: Students want political table talk this Thanksgiving
As many students made plans to head home for Thanksgiving, Campus Reform asked undergraduates at George Mason University about their views on political debates at the dinner table this year.
Every student interviewed said that this year in particular, amid the current political climate, these types of talks with family are necessary.
As students prepared to head home for Thanksgiving, Campus Reform asked undergraduate students at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia about their views on political debates at the dinner table this year.
“It’s not something we should just push away because it’s uncomfortable, but also I know it can be super stressful right now especially,” one young woman told Campus Reform.

Despite many hating the idea of awkward conversations over the holidays, every student interviewed said that this year in particular, amid the current political climate, these types of talks with family are necessary. Additionally, many students expressed that they don’t align with their parents’ political views.
Regarding issues they would like to discuss with their families, students mentioned the election, women’s rights, and the BLM movement.
