Stanford flier: Massages and acupunctures ONLY for trans/non-binary students
A queer student group at Stanford University recently advertised free massages, sound healing, and acupuncture, but only for transgender and non-binary students.
“Need a break?” We got you,” the event flier, a copy of which Campus Reform obtained, reads. flier. The event is sponsored by the Stanford Students for Queer Resistance and Trans Liberation student group and Queer Student Resources, according to the poster.
“This event is open to trans and non-binary students, staff, and faculty only,” the ad promoting the Wednesday event says. “Sound healing available to all. 20 min. massage and acupuncture available by appointment.”

Stanford Students for Queer Resistance and Trans Liberation did not return a request for comment but the Stanford administration disputed the exclusionary element of the event when contacted by Campus Reform.
“The services are available to trans, non-binary and any other students who wish to receive them,” Stanford spokesman Ernest Miranda said. “They are part of a Gender Liberation and Awareness Month event organized by students, where many presenters and providers are offering their services free of charge.”
Miranda did not respond to further media inquiries asking why, then, the sign specifically says that this event is open to “trans” and non-binary students only.

“We don’t know anything about [the event],” Stanford College Republicans told Campus Reform. “If this kind of program exi[s]ts, we definitely disagree with it, especially if tuition, room and board, or other student fees are paying for it.”
Stanford University did not respond in time for publication when asked how the event is being funded.
