NYU offering class on Puff Daddy because he has had ‘profound impact on global culture’
The two-credit course begins Friday.
The History & Criticism class is offered through NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
New York University (NYU) is offering a class on hip-hop artist Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs because has had a “profound impact on global culture.”
“Though sometimes not treated with seriousness he deserves, Combs has had a profound effect on global culture of the last twenty years,” reads the course description for “Sean Combs & Urban Culture.”
“Through critical readings, viewings and listening assignments, the brilliance, tragedy, strategy and serial entrepreneurship of Sean Combs will be interpreted, discussed and dissected,” it continues.
The institute did not respond to requests for an interview with the instructor, Jayson Jackson, in time for publication.
