Matthew Garrett is an educator, author, and advocate for free speech and academic excellence. A retired tenured professor at Bakersfield College, he taught American history, Native American studies, and critical thinking and writing. His award-winning book, Making Lamanites, examines a mid-20th-century foster care program for Native American youth, while his broader research explores the intersection of race, religion, and culture. Dr. Garrett currently serves as President and Founding Professor of the California Curriculum Center, which provides homeschool and charter school students with rigorous, nonpartisan courses and curricula aligned with California standards.
