Most students expressed their desire for Pelosi to be replaced with someone younger and more progressive, and they were excited by the prospect of AOC as speaker.

Students were ecstatic about the idea of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as Speaker of the House. When asked what qualities would make Ocasio-Cortez an effective Speaker, students said that she is media savvy, a female minority, and that she is pushing the Democratic Party further left.

“As somebody who has built up such a great national brand and brought forth so many integral proposals like the Green New Deal, it’s just somebody like that would be a lightning bolt for change and a catalyst within the party,” said one young man about AOC.
